dObjects is an astronomical database / observing log program which runs under Windows 95 and Windows NT. It includes a database of over 34,000 astronomical deep-sky objects. In addition to the standard observing information about the objects, dObjects' database includes references to popular astronomical magazines, books, and internet resources pertaining to the objects. Information you have about objects within your computer (pictures, sketches, ccd images, other files) can easily be added to the database, as can your observations at the scope, and internet URLs you may find. Local files and Internet URLs are directly clickable within dObjects, driving the appropriate viewing program. An extremely flexible means of object selection, sorting, and reporting make dObjects the ideal tool for planning observing sessions, logging your observations and finding information about interesting objects. You can read what people have said about dObjects at http://www.eaglequest.com/~bondono/dObjects/othersay.html Version 2.1 improvements over version 2.0 include: - dObjects can now direct many planetarium programs to display the object you're viewing. - dObjects can now send email, allowing you to easily send your observations to others. This includes a form for easy submission to NetAstroCatalog. - Session Notes may now be entered, containing information about an observing session (for instance, the weather). This information is automatically linked to each observation made on that date. - The Herald-Bobroff AstroAtlas series B and C chart numbers for each object are now displayed, and can be used in object selection, sorting, and reporting. - Circumstances of observations can now be requested, giving moon's percent illumination on the date of observation among other things. - Times of observation can now be entered, and if they are, object altitude, azimuth, meridian distance, and distance to the moon (all at the time of the observation) are added to the Circumstances of Observation display. - Can be purchased via credit card online. People who have purchased any version of dObjects can upgrade to version 2.1 for free.
