We have been able to image what turned out to be an impressive plume from
fragment L. The filter was 990nm/18nm with a CCD. The fireball was first
detected at around 22:20UT. The feature in that filter was still visible well
after the visual sight had faded. The resulting spot seen against Jupiter's
disk was an impressive one, spanning more than 2 arc sec in angular size.
With the spot farther from the limb, we then switched to imaging polarimetry at the V and R bands during the remaining hours.
