MKO Planetary Patrol observations of several impact sites

Observations of Jupiter on 1994 July 20 UT from the University of Hawaii 0.6-m Planetary Patrol Telescope on Mauna Kea:

We observed Jupiter from 0550 through 0900 UT in seven filters: B, V, R, 6174 A, 6563 A, 8930 A, 9482 A. At the beginning of the evening, we observed two spots: a darker one, which we believe is E and/or F, and a smaller, much less dark one, which we have tentatively identified as C or A. By 0730 UT a new spot came into view, reaching the central meridian by 0900 UT (+/- 15 minutes). We have identified this spot as impact K. Comparisons of this spot to observations of the site of impact G taken last night show that site K is at least as large and as dark as site G was the previous night. Site K was easily visible in all filters except 8930 A, as was the case the previous night with site G.

A very impressive sight!
