Observations of Jupiter with the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope at La
Palma, starting 19:27 UT on July 18, showed cleary the effects of the
H=14 impact as well as the D, G, F and possibly the E impact sites. Images
were obtained in the U-band, 8920 A (50 A FWHM) methane band, and 9480 A
(50 A FWHM) continuum band. At sub-arcsec resolution, the impact sites
appeared as bright cores with western arcs in the methane band and as
dark spots in the other filters. The G and H sites were also
accompanied by several small bright spots. The observers were S.
Larson, F. Moreno, A. Molina and H. Campins.
