This is really exciting. We saw three features through a 14 inch telescope as clear as can be, right from the center of Memphis. One was rotating out of the field of view at 10 pm (CDT) while one was entering, and the third was large enough to show structure. It was heading for the limb, having been in the center when we started to look at 9 pm.
I am blown away.
We also thought we could see a very large ring, probably an illusion, about one quarter of the diameter of Jupiter around the darkest feature when it was close to the meridian.
I guess one of the features must have been L. The bottom line is that Chapman's 10" and our 14" allow one to see the features quite readily.
