A small and not very bright constellation of the south polar region of the sky. Originally Volans has been called Piscis Volans.
Stars and other objects:
There are not too many objects in this constellation. For small telescopes both
double stars are good targets: Gamma Vol is an attractive pair consisting
of a white and an yellow star of 4th and 6th mag, respectively.
The other double, epsilon Vol, consists of a blue-white 4th mag star with a close 8th mag companion.
The two galaxies are both of 11th mag, located at RA=07h 36m 24s, DECL=-69deg 32min and RA=07h 34m 54s, DECL=-69deg 17min, respectively.
